Center Miles Goodman, a former four-star recruit who was the highest-rated member of Penn State men’s basketball’s 2024 recruiting class, has entered the transfer portal, On3’s Pete Nakos reported.

The 6-foot-11, 225-pound Goodman, who averaged 1.2 points and 1.4 rebounds across 13 games this past season, joins guard Jahvin Carter and forward Hudson Ward as the third member of Penn State’s four-player 2024 recruiting class to enter the transfer portal, which officially opened on Monday. Only Dominick Stewart, who was high school teammates with Goodman, remains from that class.

With Goodman departing, Mike Rhoades will now be losing at least eight players from Penn State’s 2024-25 roster, a team that compiled a 16-15 overall record and didn’t qualify for the Big Ten Tournament. The group of departees includes two-time Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year Ace Baldwin Jr. and full-time starters Zack Hicks and Puff Johnson, all of whom are out of eligibility.

Now, just five players from this past year’s team remain, with three incoming freshmen  — including four-star guard Kayden Mingo — set to join the program in June. Rhoades’ focus should be on building around Mingo and center Yanic Konan Niederhauser, and that will likely mean adding more shooters and frontcourt talent.

“We need size. We need size and girth,” Rhoades said on Wednesday. “The one thing that I had to learn even more is the level of size, one through five. And returning players got to put on a body of armor that could win games in the Big Ten. But we also got to go out and recruit a body of armor — guys with size and girth at all positions. I think that’s really important.”
